Maria Gayle Daniel, 67, of Stevensville, MI, passed away surrounded by her family November 7, 2014 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085, with Charlie McGee officiating. Friends may visit from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home. Gayle was born on February 23, 1947 to James Aldon and Norma (Perry) Hendrix in Lester, AL. She graduated from Mars Hill Bible School in 1965. Gayle earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, and her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at the University of North Alabama in Florence, AL. Gayle married Clyde Daniel on December 19, 1968 in Florence, AL. She worked as a 3rd grade elementary teacher at Roosevelt Elementary in Stevensville from 1992 until she retired in June 2010. She was a member of the St. Joseph Church of Christ and active in the Ladies Bible Class. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren. Gayle had a gentle heart and loving kindness for everyone she met. She found great fulfillment by inspiring everyone around her whether they be children in her classroom, friends, loved ones, or those in need.
Gayle is survived by her husband of 45 years, Clyde Daniel; son, Christopher Daniel of Columbus, OH; daughter, Elizabeth (Jay) Calo of Gaylord, MI; grandchildren, Avery and Addison Calo; sisters, Wanda (David) Myers of Rogersville, AL, Janice (Greg) England of Winchester, CA and Pam (George) Wade of Killen, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
