Michael “Mike” Schlaack, 45, of Stevensville, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alliance for the Great Lakes. Mike was born on April 1, 1969 in Benton Harbor to Jerry & Karen (Leitz) Schlaack. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1987 and attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas earning a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. On July 3, 1993 he married the former Angela Burton at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph. He was employed at Whirlpool in Benton Harbor as a Supply Chain Analyst. In Mike’s spare time he enjoyed traveling the world with his family, going to Chicago White Sox games and supporting Baylor University’s sports teams. He also enjoyed music and paddle boarding and had a true love for Lake Michigan. Mike lived for his children, family was always first in Mike’s life.
Mike is survived by his wife Angela; his children William Schlaack –serving in the Peace Corps. in Mongolia, Emma Schlaack at home; his parents Jerry & Karen Schlaack of St. Joseph; his brother Donald (Kimmie) Schlaack of St. Joseph; and Dustin & Rachel Kyncl of Stevensville-special friends especially through Mike’s illness.
